Some answers....

Mia had another repeat ultrasound of her diaphragm this afternoon and it has indeed been injured during the surgery. Not the best of news but I did breathe a sigh of relief knowing that this is the reason her left lung continues to collapse after being extubated. Tommorow while placing the pacemaker they will also repair the diaphragm with is a "fairly minor procedure". No procedure feels "minor" at this point with all that she has been through. The surgeon also said he does not think that she will need a pacemaker long term and that he really feels that her heart will eventually find its rhythm. The surgeon will also check the pressure in her heart due to the pulmonary stenosis. If there is a high pressure he will need to do another open heart procedure to reduce the pressure. He does not expect to have to do this but it is a possibility.

Once again please continue to keep praying for Mia. Please pray for a miraculous recovery for our little girl so she can go home and start her "new" life!

The news sounds positive. I am confident once her pacemaker is in and her diaphragm has been fixed she will begin her path to a healthy recovery. I can't wait to see her again and see her smile :)

She has already started her new life Melinda or she wouldn't be having this life saving surgery, albeit with a bend in the road. I see a light and its not that incoming train!! Continuing hugs and prayers just up the road.

We are praying for Mia and your whole family. This has been a hard road to travel. Sometimes we have to face the challenges head on to find the true joy in the life ahead. Mia is going to pull through this and then be the sweet, lovable little girl you held in your arms for the first time just a short while ago. Please wrap Mia in your love and reminder her that we all care so deeply for her. Whisper in her ear that Ellie wants to come play.

It is clear your strength is from our Father, and that is right where He desires all of us to be.

I never knew God to be more real than when we walked through a dark and long valley last year. As I am remembering the journey we found ourselves on this time last year, I am also reminded of how BIG God is.

You are so right that we can't see the big picture, but He can. Trusting Him with one of our children … well that is real faith. We want to believe we know what is best for them. But He loves them infinitely more than even we do, because He created them and has a plan for their lives: a future and a hope.

Ephesians 3:19-21

We are here in Ohio, praying for your precious girl. My brother and sister-in-love have three wonderful children, with two having been brought home from China. "Dear Father...please bless Mia and her family, especially her Mom right now. Let her physically feel your strong arms around her, sharing your love with her, and the knowledge that YOU know the beginning from the end. We trust you. A-men."

Melinda,
So thankful that you have answers to what is going on with Mia. I will continue to pray for her and for you and your family. There's no way to know why God has you in this place, but I pray you will see His glory in the midst of this, somewhere...a little glimpse of what He is doing...He is right there in the middle of it all and hasn't left you or Mia, even though it may feel that way at times.

We are certain that God is guiding the surgeon's hands today. Our prayers are for all who have been touched by Mia's presence. May God give you strength in the time of doubt, and may His light penetrate any darkness that would try to shadow His work in Mia. God Bless.

Love, Diana, Paul, & Briana
P.S. We are excited to see you next week!
